Big Bend Community Orchestra

This community-rooted orchestra has played over 71 free concerts. Each of the concerts includes guest artists and guest conductors from within the community. At least one concert features youth musicians as soloists. More than 80 volunteer musicians meet each Thursday evening from September through April at Tallahassee Community College to rehearse and enjoy participation in this non-auditioned, well-rounded community orchestra. College credit can be obtained through Tallahassee Community College.

Cabin Hill Music is a multi-faceted studio founded by Linda Collins. Cabin Hill Music offers private lessons in mountain dulcimer, piano, voice and guitar for students age 5 to 80. Notation and arranging services are available.

The Capital Chordsmen, the award-winning Tallahassee chapter of the International Barbershop Harmony Society, welcomes men from high school through senior citizens who love to sing traditional and contemporary music in four-part harmony style. If you are a bass or a lead, we can especially use you this year! We perform holiday and gospel concerts, our big annual show at TCC, Valentine's serenades, and special events. Rehearsals: Thursday nights 7-9:30 pm upstairs at the Tallahassee Senior Center, 1400 N. Monroe.

At Music Lessons Express, we realize the need to make music lessons convenient. We accomplish this by "delivering" instructors to the location of the student. Our qualified and family friendly instructors travel to after-school programs, homes, churches and the workplace teaching piano, guitar, strings, voice, percussion, woodwinds and brass instruments to all ages. Our after-school program locations include Canopy Oaks, The Character Center, Cornerstone Learning Community, Desoto Trail, East Hill Baptist Church, Gallops Family Center, Gilchrist, Hawks Rise, Imagine, Roberts and Sullivan.

All-brass instrument group performing music that emulates the sound and style of a traditional British brass band. Instrumentation includes trumpets, cornets, French horns, baritone/euphoniums, trombones, and tubas. Also Eb soprano cornet and Eb tenor horns. Participant should be able to read music from intermediate to very difficult. Rehearsals Wednesday evenings.

A 45-50 member chorus made up of local community members and students, that performs three major concerts annually. No auditions are required for membership; soloists are auditioned. Meets for rehearsals in Room CH 161 in the Communications and Humanities Building at Tallahassee Community College on Tuesdays from 7-9 pm.

Seeking enthusiastic singers to perform the world’s greatest music. A non-auditioned group of 200+ singers that draws members from all walks of life and musical ability in the Big Bend community, and includes many professional musicians. Repertoire ranges from the large masterworks of Handel and Beethoven to Broadway show tunes to spirituals and gospel songs. Whatever your musical background and interest, you will find something you will enjoy during the season. Rehearsals are held Mondays from 7:30-9:30 pm at St. John’s Episcopal Church in the Alfriend Hall.
